Surely you didn’t think we had all that fun at rugby games, the fair (twice), the orchard(s) without eating and eating and eating?
We actually went to a rugby tournament at University of Georgia to see the darling twins.
It was a miracle rare event because we convinced The Grunter to come with us. What a special day it is when all six of us are in the same place.
With a little planning, this was the perfect opportunity for a family photo for a holiday card.
Oh wait, we didn’t plan anything like that.
I was excited to see the darling twins just standing together. We don’t see them together much these days.
Sad but true – those are the only pictures I took other than some scary shots of rugby players changing their shirts, walking around in sports bras and generally frightening the public at large (us). Photos are not suitable for the PG-13 blog.
So much for a family photo…
Back to The Eating
The only thing we did plan was going to a crepe restaurant for lunch before the game in the charming downtown of Athens.
I forgot to take pictures of the lunch crepes but snapped these pictures of our dessert crepes.
Caramel Apple
S’more
I make better crepes. These were a bit thick and chewy though the presentation was lovely and the filling was good.
Strawberry & chocolate
Side note: Her new glasses are a fashion accessory not for vision.
Ellijay, Georgia Cuisine
After our 2nd rugby game just before Halloween, we seized another eating opportunity. Lunch and a trip to our favorite orchard.
Scary Baby opted to stay at the college with the darling twins so we were on our own.
I remembered a burger joint from years ago so we decided to re-visit it.
Give us a cheeseburger and a sack of taters any day.
Holy cow – this was the best burger we’ve had in years!
We did not have any idea that when we ordered two double cheeseburgers that they would weigh in at about 1 pound each. Not kidding.
We ended up cutting it in half and sharing it.
We brought the other 1 pounder back to the college kids…
And these four shared it in the parking lot.
We also brought back peach ice cream, cider donuts, caramel apple slices…
…but there wasn’t much of the apple fritter left to share.
Fair Food
I forgot to take a picture all our fair delicacies. I’ll just give you a quick rundown.
- Corn dog
- Cheeseburger
- Fries
- Apple cider
- Kettle corn
- Funnel cake
Ahem. That was our 2 night total. No judging.
Okay, 2 funnel cakes – we had 1 each night that the 3 of us shared. We were comparing powdered sugar to cinnamon sugar. Powdered sugar definitely won.
Oh, I almost forgot. Scary Baby and I shared a vegetable.
Roasted corn. Yum.
Yes, I know corn doesn’t have a lot of health benefits. Sue me.
In other breaking vegetable news, The Grunter ate a piece of lettuce.
Enjoy your weekend! The temperature has dropped here – the freeze warning is a little colder than I prefer but I am excited that I can finally turn on the oven and bake. Yipee!
