We Don’t Understand Rugby

Here’s a little “Where’s Waldo?” for your Monday.

Except it’s “Where’s Rachel?”

The game last weekend was against Georgia Tech.

She’s the scrawny one in blue to the left of #3.

They lift her up because it’s part of the game. We’re not sure what part but I think it’s when the ball goes out of bounds. Maybe.

And she’s scrawny. We think they need to lift her up higher. This is just our observation since they haven’t asked us for any coaching tips.

She’s #9.

We cheered when she scored. Even though they lost in the end. It was close like 3-2 but we don’t know how to keep score so maybe it was 21-17 or 100-87.

She has no fear. It worries me.

We cover our eyes a lot. Because just like in basketball she doesn’t care how big the girl is, she wants the ball.

I swear she is smiling while watching this pileup. I’m just glad she wasn’t at the bottom of the pile. For once.

We don’t understand this sport. We don’t understand why she loves it so much.

We are thankful only one darling twin is playing this year.

Who here enjoys watching rugby?

Who here enjoys watching one of their babies play rugby?

Why?

In looking at the photos she’s only missing one thing—about another 40 lbs to help cushion the blows! Her “no fear” attitude may take her places, but it will certainly remind you to say your prayers regularly. Lord love ya!

I’ll go ahead and clear up your confusion:
The final score was actually 13 to 10 GT. Also, they lift up the players when the ball goes out of bounds. So yes Sherra, you guys were correct about that part. It is called a line out. Lastly, I am not scrawny.

Give blood, play rugby…or should that be give your mother gray hair, play rugby. How about wiry instead of scrawny??

I have always enjoyed watching my daughter play whatever multitude of sports she plays. To be honest Rugby does make me wince just a bit to see her throwing her body around and the injuries that could occur. However I am proud of her and the fact she is a competitor. Its what makes her who she is. If she likes Rugby, then I do too. And yes Rachel is scrawny but it is all muscle and that is what makes her so fast.

Cracked me up! I have 3 daughters, all athletic and one is especially fierce in competition. she used to play running back in the backyard football league (BFL) before I made her stop.
She was surely the hardest to tackle and catch, but the boys were just getting too big and too humbled.
