Thanksgiving Reality

We’ve made a HUGE decision about our Thanksgiving this year.

Some may consider it a sacrilege.

We’re fine with it.

Scary Baby is not.

Granny is here from Texas.

The darling twins are coming home from college.

The Grunter has to work a double shift at the movies.

We don’t want to cook.

The truth is this…

We’re going to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving this year.

GASP.

This is not an advertisement.

But you really have to see the bountiful feast…

…they are preparing just for us.

Come on now – the meal includes a drink AND pie.

FOR $8.99

A Homestyle Thanksgiving Meal

Enjoy our turkey breast with made-from-scratch cornbread dressing and topped with turkey gravy. Served with a sampling of baked sugar-cured ham, sweet potato casserole with caramel pecan topping, cranberry relish, your choice of a vegetable and fresh biscuits or corn muffins, plus a slice of our very own Pumpkin Pecan Streusel Pie with real whipped cream, and a beverage (excluding milkshakes).

Don’t judge.

It’s really all about what works for you and your family.

Mostly, it’s all about being with people you love.

I hope that’s how you spend your holiday.

We’ll be doing exactly that sans the dirty dishes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey for $8.99 I think its a steal. I am working 7a – 3p birthing some Turkey babies so we are doing the next best thing…my daughter is cooking..and she is a much better cook than I am for sure.
With all the grandkids ( 5 kids 6 and under) going out would be a nightmare.

I will probably miss the actual dinner ..hopefully the men won’t scrarf it all down and save me some…otherwise I WILL be stopping at Cracker Barrel on the way home.

Actually one year we did stop at McDonalds because my sister thought a small turkey breast could feed lots of people..first time I ever left Thanksgiving hungry…we never let that happen again..dinner at my sister’s house that is…LOL Have fun!

well I have to admit we did it once as well when my mom didn’t want to cook. ( I think it was after both of my grandparents had passed away). anyway, we decided we never wanted to do it again cause there’s no LEFTOVERS when you eat out! So then you end up cooking anyway! Unless you’re gonna eat out breakfast, lunch, and dinner that day which is not a bad idea. My kids would probably go for it but I don’t know many restaurants that will be open for dinner. what time are y’all eating at the Cracker?

We’re feeding 13 at my house this year – my family of 5 plus dad, my brother and his wife and one of their daughters with her husband. My s-i-l’s sister (you get that? LOL) and my m-i-l.
Everyone is pitching in bringing something. billy is smoking a 14 lb turkey on his green egg AND I bought a 8 lb Honeybaked ham (advertisement intended!!) So I think we’ll have some leftovers. Not sure if we’ll have dessert or not but we’re more into the meats and veggies over here. I admire all your baking but I’d just as soon have a bowl of ice cream!

I love the turkey, ham, and green egg references! Dr. Seuss is alive and well!

Grandma/June Bug did not bring green jello this year. It might be the first holiday I can remember with out it.
