Surely We All Have Eleven Minutes

To remember…

Where you were the moment you heard…

And send a prayer up to those who were lost and those who still grieve…

And for everyone who needs an extra prayer today.

Never forget 9-11-01

One Response to “Surely We All Have Eleven Minutes”

I will never forget it. We were in our homeschooling days, sitting at the breakfast table and sharing stories from the day’s newspaper with one another. My husband called from work and told me to turn on the t.v.—NOW! The first plane had crashed and the news anchors were confused about it all. They were narrating it live and, as my children and I watched, the second plane entered the screen and struck the tower. We watched in horror, tears streaming down all of our faces, unable to turn it off or turn away. As we watched the towers were fully consumed and crumbled to the ground. It was so overwhelming because it was real. It wasn’t a movie promo or a skit or spoof. Those were real people fleeing through the streets—my fellow Americans. It was horrifying! In the days that followed there were rumors swirling that another attack was planned for a major shopping mall—the very type of place where my husband went to work everyday. I had to resolve in my mind that this incident could not break us as a People and that I was simply going to have to trust God and kiss my husband as he left for work each day. For a few brief weeks it was like being a military family and sending my “soldier” into battle each day. I have the highest regard for women who are able to offer us their loved ones in that way. Serving your country is the highest form of sacrifice.

Today's Deep Thought

  • The wise man can pick up a grain of sand and envision a whole universe. But the stupid man will just lie down on some seaweed and roll around until he's completely draped in it. Then he'll stand up and go, "Hey, I'm Vine Man."
