May I Take Your Order Please?

Special note: Our iLashGirls site was hacked yesterday so we had to rebuild a few things from a backup so this post disappeared for a while. If you left a comment and you don’t see it now, please leave another one! Hacking websites…add that to the list of stupid hobbies of people with too much free time. :(

This is how pizza ordering at the Humpfreeze house goes when all SIX Humpfreeze family members are home.

Side note: Small miracle in itself. All of us being together in the house on a SATURDAY NIGHT. Not just passing each other as someone walks out the door. Or passing each other in the driveway.

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

I’d like to tell you that this picture is of the hot, delicious pizza we get here in the South but that would be a lie. Pizza like that is rarely found here but this picture made me think of how much I miss the perfection of Illinois pizza…Chicago style or otherwise. My family lives near the Wisconsin border and it is that awesome Wisconsin cheese that I long for and have every time I go back to visit!

Now let’s get back to ordering pizza for dinner at our house…

I conducted this serious, formal interview with each family member to show you why I am crazy.

We can’t even agree on THE CRUST.

Would someone create a chart so I can order a freakin’ pizza please?

What’s your favorite dream pizza? I mean the non-compromising kind where you don’t have to share or accommodate other people’s tastes?

I absolutely love pizza! It is my favorite food, and you are right Sherra – I have had pizza all over the United States and it is best right here at home! I like thin crust, I like thick crust, I like stuffed crust – depends on my mood. I have different places I go depending on what kind I feel like. Tilly’s in Beloit or Maciano’s in Loves Park for thin crust and Pietro’s right here in Roscoe for stuffed crust. Doug will eat anything so I can order what I want – usually Sausage Mushroom Onion unless I get a wild hair – then it is everything but anchovies. When you come home let’s get together for a pizza!

I love thin crust light sauce with mushrooms, peppers onions and black olives. Mmmm…I rarely get it because no one else wants all the veggies.

Thanks Sherra – it’s 7 a.m. and I’m starving for pizza! I love a thin, crispy crust with pepperoni, mushrooms, and green olives. Pepperoni has to be on top of the cheese and a little bit crispy (read: burnt). I’ve finally gotten our local pizza place to run my pizza thru the oven twice to get that ‘well done’ top that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. Pizza guys freak out when you ask them to burn your pizza so this is quite an accomplishment! Try it sometime and let me know what you think.

Thin crust Greek pizza—kalamata olives, red onion, tomatoes, feta cheese, a drizzle of olive oil and spices. YUM!!!!! Kerri, leftover pizza makes a great breakfast so don’t let the 7 am thing stop you.

Today's Deep Thought

  • The wise man can pick up a grain of sand and envision a whole universe. But the stupid man will just lie down on some seaweed and roll around until he's completely draped in it. Then he'll stand up and go, "Hey, I'm Vine Man."
