It’s not even October yet…

Only a few days left of my favorite month of the year – and not just because it is the month of my birthday.

I love September because the kids go back to school.

I love September because it brings the hint of Fall.

Fall is my favorite season.

There is so much to love about Fall especially if you live where the leaves turn colors…

and you love …

pumpkins and gourds…
apple cider and pumpkin pie…
the smell of cinnamon and the chill of the night air.

Ahhh, I really do love Fall.

In the coming weeks, I’ll definitely share some of our award-winning Halloween costumes from past years.

We’ve always celebrated Halloween as a fun day to dress up and celebrate Fall.

We’ve never celebrated Halloween as a demon and devil holiday with ghouls and goblins and scary things.

This weekend, Scary Baby got busy living up to her “code name.”

She had a friend over to spend the night on Saturday and she apparently wanted to get a head start on Halloween festivities.

PhilBillPaul got wind of the fact that they had been busy putting flyers on neighbors’ mailboxes and they were preparing to host an event at our house:

ScaryStoryNite

PhilBillPaul especially enjoyed the part where she stressed “No food provided” since she knows she gets in big trouble when she starts providing snacks and drinks for any kid who walks by our house.

This is not the first time our creative, lovely, last child has made a flyer and distributed them through the neighborhood.

Nice Dad actually took control of the situation and made her go through the neighborhood and remove the flyers. She insists they only put them at houses with small children.

Small children who would like participate in Scary Story Night with
Scary Baby?

I’m sure that we have neighbors who wonder why her parents don’t supervise her and channel her creativity in different ways.

Sorry neighbors…

I wish I had a good answer other than we are old and tired.

But that’s all I’ve got.

We are old and tired.

I agree with you, September is a wonderful month and it’s not even my birthday month, lol! And my kids go back to school in August so not exactly celebrating that. One of the reason our family loves it is because GA football starts back!! We LOVE GA football.

Your posts continue to amuse and entertain. Isn’t it wonderful that all of your kids contribute to your topics? Just think, you’d have had to come up with something all on your own if Scary Baby hadn’t contributed.

Scary Baby certainly lives up to her name! I’ve always wondered what particular twist of the genetic strand gave the two of you wonderful people a child who is a cross between Einstein and Tim Burton! Seriously, she is very, VERY bright. If we don’t elect one sooner, she’s sure to be the first woman in the White House. That should be Scary Story enough for any neighborhood child, or by that time, their Social Security-aged parents.

    Sherra,
Scary Baby is definitely a chip off her mom’s block! I love the disclaimer “parents decide if children can come”.

The leaves are turning up in Michigan and there is a chill in the air. To me it signals the start of winter – not my favorite. But I will enjoy the cider, caramel apples, and pumpkin pie just the same. Notice no BEAN CAKE or SQUIREL on this girls menu! UGH.

    Thanks for the laughs.

Okay, I have to give props to Scary Baby’s creativity and intelligence! After all, she did remember to highlight the importance of bringing your own food! Too funny!

As for me, I am a true Fall lover! It would make me so happy if the temperature could stay in the mid 70’s every single day! I guess if I want that, I will have to leave the humidity capital of the world! Ah well, a girl can dream…

Melinda » Are you saying I only have blog material because of my *naughty* children? I’d like a chance to prove you wrong on that but so far, there hasn’t been a day, much less a week, that has given me that chance.

julieann » Whatever she does as an adult, let’s pray that she can support and push the wheelchairs of her very old and tired parents!

Kerri » She’s at the age you were when we met. And her best friend is in 5th grade. I think of us often as I watch them play and make big plans. But we seemed much older and more mature. 😉

Tammy » Thank goodness Scary Baby doesn’t really read the blog – all of you encouraging her would not help me!

You haven’t lived in Florida so don’t bad mouth your own state about its humidity factor! But I agree, this is the weather I want year ’round!
