@Melinda--Great tip about food. But I must say the cafeteria food has improved immensely since the *many* years ago when we were in college!! They were actually gone for TEN weeks this summer and we ALWAYS miss them when they aren't here. LOL It's when they arrive home when the chaos and snarky teens arrive that missing them ends.

@julieann--It would have been an even bigger battle to try to take Roger's car away - it's hers, bought and paid with her own money. I think all colleges should not let have freshmen have cars. Can we start a petition? Incidentally - 3-5 hours is my hot tip. I was with a friend last week and her daughter is at TCU…way too far away so I understand how the too far away thing is hard! I'm sticking with my 3-5 hour recommendation ;)

@Leigh Anne--How did you miss that one as much as we talk? Freshmen must wear uniforms 24/7. NO civilian clothes!!! Too funny that when they came home last Saturday they put their favorite outfit on to sit in the house for about 30 minutes before we went to lunch. Roger put on basketball shorts and a t-shirt with colored socks and those Vans slip on shoes - she is a style maven. Wizzy opted for jeans and a t-shirt. They both flopped on the couch and then pet the dogs and played Guitar Hero. Then changed back to their ASUs. Try to imagine your girls not being able to wear civilians and…GASP…not being able to ACCESSORIZE. They take after their mother, I know firsthand! LOL

Another option is not to send them to a nearby college WITH A CAR. Who wants to call Mom and Dad to ASK for transportation home on the weekend? It isn't easy to send them all the way across the country either, trust me.

Well I can testify that an hour away is WAY too close, lol! My one twin has been home every weekend so far (which her daddy LOVES!) but the other one, 3 hours away, has NOT been home yet so we are looking forward to seeing her this weekend. I can't say if she's using her meal ticket or not but the one good piece of advice I got from my sister before I bought it was to buy the smallest number of meals possible! I'll be sure to pass that piece of advice along to all my friends in the future. They can always buy more if they need it but I think we're all finding out they hate to eat in the cafeteria as much as we did when we were in school!

I know you missed them this summer when they were in boot camp and couldn't see them for 6 weeks? Guess they missed you guys too and are just making up for it!
