My husband and I went on our annual movie date since family was staying with us and an Aunt gave us the gift of a babysitter!!!! We saw Bedtime Stories and laughed the entire time. It was an awesome way to spend alone time and to come home entertained and happy. I give it an A- only because I wanted it to be longer!

Another well done but little known movie involving the German Resistance is Swing Kids. It stars the actor who was the main character in Dead Poets Society (not Robin Williams, but the main student) and maybe was done in that time period (was that 90′s?) because he looks to be the same age. Believe it’s rated PG-13. We rented it less than a year ago, so it may still be out there.

So we saw 3 movies over the holiday break – more movies than I usually see in a year!

My girls and I went to Marley & Me. I am definitely not a dog lover or even liker but thought the movie was cute and sweet. My girl’s cried – I didn’t. I give it a B-

We also saw Seven Pounds which I liked although everyone else I know that saw it thought it was depressing. I thought it was well done and I like Will Smith. I give it a B

The third movie was Valkryie which was my favorite of the 3. I love that period of history and found the movie to be very inspiring. I didn’t know much about the German Resistance and found it very interesting. I give it an A.

Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood—a must see, especially if you grew up in the Midwest and know guys who worked at the Ford plant for 40 years. You may not agree with me, as I too saw Australia and would give it a D. It couldn’t decide what it wanted to be and so it didn’t succeed at anything. Mollie—I’m from CA and I hope I can rate above a C-…can I come over?
