I’m committed to taking some baby steps in an effort to seriously cut down on my sugar intake this year.
And caffeine.
I quit cold turkey 6 years ago and lived through it.
But the caffeine slowly crept back into my life a few years later.
I blame living in Atlanta for this vice. Because I do love, love, love Coke. As in the classic red can Coke straight up over lots of ice.
Side note: I used to blame my caffeine addiction on my mother because she worked at Pepsi. Then I moved to Georgia where most establishments don’t take kindly if you use the “P” word.
No diet soda here because I really do believe artificial sweeteners are way worse for you than plain ‘ole sugar.
Just my opinion.
Wizzy knows this and says she’s going to give up soda too.
Then she brought this home this weekend…
I’m sorry – can you not read that banner?
Real sugar
Limited time only.
This stuff is like liquid carbonated crack.
Not that I have any idea about crack. But I do know this is good stuff.
She brought home a Mountain Dew too but I forgot to take a picture of its very cool retro label. Which I’ve heard is similar to a double dose of crack.
I think she’s going to give up soda in February.
Me too.

I, too, gave up caffeine January 4th, 2009. Then in November of this year I got a coupon for a Mocha Java Chip Chiller at Sonic for $1. Well, like most people I will buy just about anything for a dollar. Let just say, I totally get the liquid crack analogy. WOW! It rocked my world. I drank it up like Connie Conehead in the Conehead movie, you know, one giant slurp. (Dating myself there, aren’t I?) Anyway, clearly the caffeine withdrawals had rotted some part of my brain since I didn’t even make the connection that the Mocha JAVA Chip Chiller was doused with a full shot of espresso. No wonder it was so good! I vowed to give it up at the first of the year but I must confess: I have had three so far. It really doesn’t help that I work next door to Sonic. Way too much temptation for a weak-willed woman such as me…Alas, what is a girl to do? I swear it keeps calling my name beckoning like a siren song and I just can’t resist…I hope you have better luck!
My husband brought home a 12 pack of the ‘throwback’ Pepsi and one of the Mt. Dew. The kids are loving it. I, too, am a Coke woman so I have not tried it. The Mt. Dew can is fun because it has the hillbilly with the Yaw Hoo, Mt. Dew! on it. Since my husband is diabetic and shouldn’t be partaking in any of this, he got yelled at for even bringing it home- he was drawn into purchasing it because of the memories that come with the packaging…
@Tammy–Good thing I don’t like coffee-flavored anything because it sounds dangerous!!
@Peggy–That hillbilly can sell some soda, huh? Try the Pepsi!!!
