Sherra, you rock and PhilBillPaul should be thrilled at such a delightful gift. I am sure the videotape of the process would have been equally entertaining.

As for gift ideas, I have to recommend Robin Spizeman’s Giftionary book. It is filled with clever and heartfelt ideas for any celebration.

Another great idea for a 50th birthday, is to have the person’s family and friends all call a toll-free phone number and record their favorite stories, memories, and well-wishes. It’s kind of a verbal form of what you did above (but with their voices saying “Daddy, I love you because…”).

We used a service called LifeOnRecord which took the phoned-in recordings and created a CD from them and it turned out great.
