Just doing our part to keep our relationship with Sprint fresh and new.
As in…we’ve renewed our vows that we took way back in 2000. That means, two more years of our already long-term relationship.

We got the girls new phones for their birthday and The Grunter and PhilBillPaul didn’t want to be left out.
I admit that their new Samsung Rant phones seem pretty slick. What with the sliding keyboard – now standard on many phones. I’m pretty partial to Wizzy’s. I think she picked the best color.
I figured the advantages of all of them having the same phones were numerous. They can share chargers and swap cases. More importantly, they can tutor Dad because Cellular Phil (that’s what I call him when he shouts into his phone “Can you hear me now”) needs tutoring. There are just too many features on these newfangled gadgets for him to figure it all out.
I have threatened to get him one of those Jitterbug phones or something similar. He often finds himself in a quandary because he can’t read the text messages because he can’t find his glasses.
I think it is an appropriate solution to his dwindling eyesight but coupled with his hearing loss, he just gets all grouchy and takes it personally declaring
“I don’t need a dog yet.”
“Yet” is the operative word here.
Anyway…
Much like the ipod, I had a smart phone with a keyboard way before the kids all wanted one. “So geeky, mom” is a comment I recall hearing.
Now it seems you are a total geek if you don’t have a phone with a keyboard.
So…are you a texting mom or are you still a holdout and refuse to communicate in teen speak?
No judgment – remember I’m still holding out on the Facebook *fad* that might pass.
Or not.

Good Morning and thanks for the little birthday blog for the girls… that’s a birthday they won’t soon forget!
I’m in! I think my girls text me more than call. Sometimes it’s annoying but it is quick and easy. I actually wish that my parents (aged 77) were able to text or even accept pics from the phone but that just seems to be beyond them, although they do love e-mail and the internet!
I learned two years ago that if I wanted to communicate with my children I had better grin and text it. It isn’t that hard except that I am one of the Geeks who does not have a slide-out keyboard. In fact, I’m still using the same Nokia indestructible phone that I got at least 8 years ago. If they want to really confuse me my kids set it to a feature where it “anticipates” what I am going to type, which of course just makes it all the harder for me because I don’t believe that a mere cellphone can anticipate my actual thoughts. Perhaps they have a parent variety that is prewired with things like, “Where r u?” and “If ur not home by 12 ur grounded.” Now that would be useful technology.
Too funny! I am NOT a texting mom! I like my candy bar style phone that does not even take pictures!!! Every time I want to use it (once every other week) the battery is dead anyway! But then again my little guys aren’t teenagers yet. There’s that “yet” word!!! Maybe we’ll all have gps/phone implants by the time they get to those years.
But I am totally into the facebook “fad” and would be crushed if it ended! I’ve already been able to apologize to 2 friends for my horrible actions in third grade and they still like me!!!
You would be so proud of me. I walked into the at&t store fully knowing which phones I was going to get for myself and one of my daughters. Our contracts were up and there was a “Buy one get one free” deal on one of those fancy slide phones. We were excited! (My ancient flip phone was hanging by a wire.) Until the salesman (and he was good) found a slight hesitation and convinced me that the iphone was the same price and I would really be a cool mom. I have no idea how to operate one of those fancy iphones and I really don’t want to be able to connect to my emails from any place. But somehow I managed to walk out of that store with a new iphone and my 12 year old son telling me he would teach how to use it. I do love it for texting and my son loves all the “apps.” My children are trying to pull me into the technology age, but I’m going kicking and screaming.
@Elizabeth–You just keep getting cooler while I just keep getting older. An iPhone??? I think everyone with an iPhone should be required to also purchase a Mac!!!
?? weird, I missed this blog post way back in 2009 I guess. I do text and I do facebook! Hubby and one of the girls JUST got Iphones, I have a droid.
