About Sherra
I was born in Indiana and have lived in Michigan, Illinois, Florida and Georgia. Even after 20+ years in the South I still consider myself a Midwest girl who loves to play euchre and golf (thanks dad).
I am a wife, mother and sister.
I have used a Mac computer forever and we have four at our house. I had an iPod before any of the kids and before iPods were cool.
Don’t be fooled by the calm, serene photo of my four children in the header. While it is my favorite photo of all of them in one picture, it is six years old and they are not nearly as cute as they were then…at 18, 16, 16 and 8 they are simply real kids with a real mom with real stories.
I am a severe head injury survivor. I get debilitating migraines and have since the 5th grade. The head injury has made them worse.
People tend to gasp when they learn I don’t drink and I never, ever have. Alcohol, that is. I do drink other liquids.
People also seem to gasp and become a bit judgmental when they learn I also don’t eat vegetables (like that’s worse than not drinking?!). Unless you consider potatoes and corn more than just another starch.
My husband and children do not eat vegetables either. I have checked and this is not a federal offense and you cannot make a citizen’s arrest.
I don’t miss winter but I like to visit the snow every couple of years.
I cherish my friendships and am pretty darn good at keeping touch. (Well except for in 2007, when I spent many months in what I affectionately refer to as “The Black Hole.”) I believe that my friends have or will forgive me for this lapse and that is why they are my friends.
I’m not very good at pretending everything is perfect and I usually don’t hang around people who are act happy all the time. They scare me. If you already know me, you know that I stopped pretending everything was perfect a long, long time ago!
I collect quotes and recipes. I think it’s because I love words, paper and food. I plan to share both with you right here on this site.
I am not qualified to be a mother. I am qualified to tell you about the many life lessons I have learned about being an unqualified mom and working from home which I’ve done even before I birthed my first child.
You will not be disappointed if you hire me to share a life lesson or run a training session for your team or speak at a meeting or women’s retreat. Because after that 10th grade public speaking class that I hated so much, I actually have a fabulous repertoire of topics that most women can really relate to…and I outgrew the fear of public speaking after high school.
If you don’t need to hire me, would you please tell someone you know (who I don’t know) about me and introduce us? (also called a referral, you know like when we tell each other about a great book, movie, restaurant, website, etc.) I would be eternally grateful and send you something nice in the mail.
Maybe you’ve read this far and you are saying to yourself “Gosh, she seems to like herself a lot,” but I need some references. Here are some words my friends used to describe me. I figured I’d just ask them for 3 words to describe me. I look for clever ways to have people help me whenever possible…and I highly recommend that you send out an email like I did right now–it’s really good for your self-esteem!
The top three words:
smart, funny, caring
Other words they used that I was touched by:
multi-talented, over-achiever, witty-intellect, colorful, loyal, sincere, thoughtful, focused, tenacious, articulate, loving, generous, supportive, entertaining
(dang, those are some nice friends)
What my enemies say about me:
Oh, never mind, I didn’t ask them.
Phew, you made it to the end!
Now do you understand what concrete random means?
